Yuzo Nieto

Yuzo Nieto has served the far northeast as both a music teacher and a general elementary teacher for 8+ years.  Recently, he was admitted to the University of Northern Colorado as a doctoral student of music education with a focus in educational leadership and policy studies.  In addition to his research and coursework at UNC, Yuzo designs and teaches curriculum for music education majors focusing on culturally responsive music pedagogy. Yuzo has two children, a 6-year-old daughter named Zora and a 4-year-old son named Thelonious.  He is also a band leader and songwriter for the original 10-piece afro-beat / chicano hip-hop ensemble called Pink Hawks.  

RAAD is co-founded with other Moonshot Fellows.

Success to Date: Using a research-based  SEL framework of assessment, RAAD showed statistically significant gains in Social Awareness from a lesson in collaborative  songwriting.

2019-2020 plans: RAAD is planning  to pilot in the Summer and Fall of 2019, as well as the Summer of 2020.
