A Message from Our Founder: Christine DeLeon

To my dearest Moonshot community,

I’m writing to share a personal update with you.

I have accepted a role as the Network Strategist and Operations Lead for Wend Collective. As such, I will be transitioning out of my role as CEO at the end of December, and Kat Ling, who has served this organization extremely well over the last two years, will serve as interim CEO. I am fully committed to supporting the search for the new CEO, which will occur in 2021.

This was an incredibly tough personal decision to make.  Nothing has been more fulfilling or inspiring than watching Fellows launch and lead their own ventures, and at the same time, the last five years of Moonshot have been the most demanding of my professional career. For now, it feels important for me to take my own breath. As my husband and I work to build a growing family, I wanted to have a role where I have the ability and privilege to support building an organization that is values aligned to the work we all do, while still giving me the room to prioritize and focus on building my own family.

I have the utmost trust and confidence that Kat, Sasha, VJ, and Alex, as well as our contractors and board of directors, will lead Moonshot with the kind of love, collaboration, respect, equity, trust, and reciprocity that folks expect from the team.

I always hoped Moonshot would be the kind of organization that lives far beyond the tenure of its founder – that its reputation would be a result of the work of the Fellows, Alumni, team, and all of the partners, not of one individual. I am confident that this network of amazing people, including you, will lead us boldly into the future.

I deeply appreciate all the commitment, support, and perspective you all have brought to this work – for me, for one another, and for the Moonshot family, and look forward to hugs and time together in 2021. I hope we can celebrate all we’ve accomplished together at this year’s Showcase on December 10th, and I look forward to reconnecting with each of you soon.
